Microchipping is accepted as the most effective means of permanent identification of your pet. This is designed to provide an effective means of reuniting owners with pets that have strayed and is mandatory if you want to travel abroad with your pet. Every year in the UK more than 300,000 treasured pets go missing. It takes just seconds to implant with the minimal amount of discomfort for your pet.
It is a clean and sterile method and has no harmful side effects, but once implanted you are guaranteed lifetime protection.
We use BackHome BioTec Pet Identification Microchips from Virbac Animal Health ( https://uk.virbac.com/home/backhome/pet-owner.html for further information)
A microchip is a computer-chip device enclosed within a plastic polymer and is approximately the size of a grain of rice. No anaesthetic is necessary as it is injected under the skin at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades. The microchip bears a unique 15 digit code which, together with the owner’s details, is recorded on a national database, the largest of which is Petlog.
Please Note since April 2016 it is now a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped.
